Introduction

Dr. Aun Jamal is a distinguished Surgical Oncologist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon, known for his expertise in treating complex and recurrent cancers. He specializes in minimally invasive cancer surgeries, with a strong focus on gastrointestinal malignancies, breast cancers, gynecological cancers, thyroid cancers, sarcomas, and redo surgeries. His practice combines advanced surgical techniques with compassionate, patient-centered care.

Academic and Professional Journey

Aun Jamal completed his medical education at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore, graduating among the top students of his class. He pursued his internship at Services Hospital Lahore, followed by rigorous General Surgery training at the same institution, one of the busiest tertiary care centers in the country. His outstanding performance led to his success in the FCPS Surgery examination.

He advanced his career as a Senior Registrar at Sharif Medical City Hospital, Lahore, and later joined Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center for a second fellowship in Surgical Oncology. He further cemented his academic excellence by completing a second FCPS in Surgical Oncology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.

In recognition of his professional achievements, Aun Jamal holds memberships in the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

His journey continued at Lahore General Hospital, where he joined as Senior Registrar and was promoted to Regular Assistant Professor of Surgery in early 2021—a distinction that made him one of the youngest surgeons in Pakistan to hold this prestigious role.

Contributions and Recognition

Currently, Aun Jamal serves as the General Secretary of the Surgical Oncology Society of Pakistan. He has published more than 30 national and international research articles and actively contributes to global collaborative trials in surgical oncology.

His work is particularly focused on difficult and recurrent cancer surgeries, for which he frequently receives referrals from across Pakistan and abroad. His surgical approach emphasizes innovation, precision, and high survival outcomes comparable to international standards.

As an academician and mentor, Aun Jamal continues to inspire and guide young surgeons, ensuring the growth of surgical oncology in Pakistan. His long-term vision is to foster international collaborations in cancer care and surgical training, thereby elevating the standards of healthcare delivery.
